Gendered and Sexual Violence

This course uses an intersectional feminist lens to examine contemporary issues of gender and sexual violence, with a focus on gendered and sexual violence against women and LGTBQ2S+ people and the social framing and response to such violence. Topics to be addressed include (but are not limited to) intimate partner violence, workplace sexual violence and harassment, Canada’s crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous women, state violence against women, the concept of “rape culture,” sexual violence on campus, and social movements. Prerequisites: Registration Status: Senior student, CC290.
